Nicola Simpson (Prov. Prof. DTAA) is a Dance Movement Therapist, dance educator, and creative practitioner based in Balclutha, Otago.
Her practice is primarily person-centred, grounded in the belief that each individual possesses innate strengths, wisdom, and capacity for growth. She creates warm, supportive spaces where people can explore movement safely and authentically, drawing on improvisation, imagery, music, and embodied awareness to foster connection, expression, and wellbeing.
With over 30 years of dance experience and more than 20 years of teaching and choreographic practice, Nicola brings a strong understanding of movement and creativity to her work. Her studies in Dance Movement Therapy deepened her interest in the relationship between movement, wellbeing, spirituality, and personal growth.
Nicola has experience facilitating groups for people living with Parkinson's Disease, aged-care residents, women's wellness groups, and individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, and neurodivergent experiences. She welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs and can integrate Christian faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process when desired.
