INTRODUCTION TO DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY
what is dance movement therapy?
ONE-OFF WORKSHOP
This 13 hour course will introduce participants to foundational skills and practices in the field of Dance Movement Therapy. The weekend will be highly experiential, with many opportunities to experience a variety of DMT approaches firsthand. Relevant theory and concepts will be presented to support the practical learning.
You will also have a chance to see some DMT in action via video presentations of work with clients, to have a glimpse of where this work may lead you! A wonderful opportunity to gain a fuller understanding of the field, and if it is the direction you want to head in. For professionals working in a variety of therapeutic fields, this training will give you a grounding in movement based therapy and support your integration of some basic DMT tools into existing work.
Module One (Introduction to Dance Movement Therapy) can be attended as a ‘one off’ workshop without any prior experience. You may choose to register for this workshop before deciding to apply for the two year Diploma in DMT.
ONLINE AND IN-PERSON workshop OPTIONs
You can choose to attend the workshop either in person as an intensive weekend workshop in Auckland, OR online spread over three days.
If you choose to enrol in the Diploma prior to module one, or if you decide to apply after attending module one, this workshop is the beginning of your two year training, and continues in February the following year.

INTRO TO DMT - MODULE ONE
Alternatively, if you are not sure about enrolling in the Diploma, and don't need a guaranteed space, you can register for and attend Intro to DMT/Module One. Then you may apply for the Diploma after completing this workshop if you choose to. However, please note spaces are limited and we can not guarantee a spot in the Diploma course in the upcoming intake.
DIPLOMA
If you are interested in applying for the Diploma in DMT, you can either apply now for the Diploma and we can confirm your place in the course. You would then attend Intro to DMT/Module One as the beginning of your training.
