Kristine Walsh
Auckland, New Zealand
Kris is a registered Dance Movement Therapist with the Dance Therapy Association of Australasia (DTAA) and has worked as a DMT for the past seven years.
Her practice is grounded in a person-centred, strengths-based approach, informed by attachment based developmental psychology and play. She works from a neurodivergent-affirming lens, recognising and supporting each person's unique way of experiencing, communicating, and engaging with the world.
Kris takes a multimodal approach to therapy, integrating movement, dance, music, sensory play, percussion, voice work, and creative arts to support body/self-awareness, emotional expression, connection, regulation, and overall well-being. She believes in the innate wisdom of the body and the powerful relationship between movement, emotions, and the mind.
Kris facilitates individual and group Dance Movement Therapy with children, teenagers, and adults across a range of abilities, specialising in neurodivergent and disability communities. She works with Dance & Arts Therapy New Zealand (DTNZ), delivering programmes in schools and in other community settings, as well as facilitating individual sessions.
Kris also supports women in fostering emotional well-being, resilience, self-discovery, and a deeper connection with themselves through embodied, creative therapeutic practice.
