Freya is a Provisional Professional Dance Movement Therapist registered with the Dance Therapy Association of Australasia (DTAA), practicing in Singapore. As the founder of The Movement Story, she is dedicated to raising awareness of Dance Movement Therapy, supporting adults to reconnect mind and body, cultivate self-awareness, and empower themselves on their personal journeys.

Alongside her focus on adults, Freya brings over eight years of specialized experience in the special education sector working with neurodivergent children, as well as dedicated clinical experience working with older adults. Her adaptable methodology allows her to support individuals across the lifespan, addressing a diverse range of therapeutic goals including enhancing physical mobility, building emotional regulation, and fostering a positive self-image and identity.

Rooted in a Person-Centered Approach and integrating a Gestalt approach when appropriate to honour local cultural preferences, Freya guides clients through somatic modalities including structured movement exploration and creative improvisation. Her current practice draws from established frameworks - including principles from Chace, Laban, Evan, and Tortora - while honouring the organic wisdom of each individual's unique movement patterns, whether deeply expressive or quiet, subtle, and still. She attunes to provide a safe, grounded container capable of holding both deep emotional processing and moments of lightness, utilizing props and humour to ease tension when appropriate.

Freya is recognized for her warm demeanour and her dedication to meet clients where they are, allowing the therapeutic process to unfold organically with kinesthetic empathy.
